THE BOKI PROJECT – PART 1 Clamoring for creation of a state or local government area is for the purpose of Autonomy. I grow-up to know Boki tribe under Ikom Local Government Area, but was told by my father that they was a time we have Boki – Ikom and Boki – Ogoja. At that time Eastern Boki and Abo were under Ikom LGA, while western Boki (Osokom 1&2 and Irruan) were under Ogoja LGA. According to Cambridge English Dictionary; the word Autonomy and his junior brother Autonomous are Noun and Adjective respectively meaning “the right of a country or region to be independent and self-governed”. For the purpose of Autonomy to become Autonomous, Boki tribe started clamoring for a local government.  JAMB candidates kidnapped in Kaduna, parents weep 17-03-2020 Armed bandits terrorising Birnin-Gwari area of Kaduna State, have kidnapped three candidates after writing their 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Kaduna. The bandits, in the attack which happened on Kaduna -Birnin Gwari road on Saturday, also killed one Ibrahim Idris, the driver of a former House of Representatives member, Adamu Shekarau. Kaduna State Police Command, while confirming the incident to The Nation on Monday said, a one- and- half- year old was also kidnapped alongside the UTME candidate. The Command’s PPRO, ASP Muhammad Jalige however said that, the police are on trail of the bandits as an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) has been deployed to the area. ASUU urges FG to declare state of emergency on education  15-03-2020 The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Saturday admonished the federal government to, as a matter of urgency, declare a five-year state of emergency in the education sector by allocating 26 per cent of its annual budget to the sector. The union claimed that the allocation of 26 per cent of federal and state governments’ budget to education would go a long way in resuscitating the sector and avert the plaguing crisis between it and government. The Sokoto Zonal Coordinator of the union, Jamilu Shehu, who disclosed this at a press conference in Katsina, said at least six per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) should be allocated to education during the period under review. FCT Police Parade 98 Suspects, Recovers 379 Ammunition The FCT Police Command thursday said it arrested 98 suspects for various criminal activities since the start of the year. The command also said it recovered 379 ammunition, 15 AK Rifles, 21 locally made pistols and two pump action, 17 stolen cars, 26 bags of dried substance suspected to be Indian hemp, 18 bottles of Codeine syrup, 79 stolen phones and one tricycle. The suspects were paraded by the FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bala Ciroma, during a press briefing on the achievements of the command in fighting crime from January 2020 till day. The suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, human trafficking, forging of vehicles particulars and fraud.

Border Closure - Customs Arrests Illegal Immigrants The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it has arrested about 697 illegal immigrants and seized contraband goods worth N7.4 billion seven months into the partial closure of the nation's borders. The Comptroller General, NCS, Hameed Ali (rtd), said this in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, NCS, Mr. Joseph Attah. Ali said the border closure had saved the country huge resources and enhanced national security.

Earlier today, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, visited wife and family members of his late Escort Rider, Ali Gonima, at his hometown in Gui, FCT. The gallant officer died in a road accident while on official duty on the Vice President's convoy in Abuja, yesterday. RIPGonima
