A Motion Of Urgent Public Importance On The Failed Portion Of Road Along Oku/Borum-Njua Road At The Boki Oil Palm Estate. By: Hon. George Ajangson


Again, Hon. George Ajangson, the honourable councilor representing Oku/ Borum-Njua political Ward has displayed an uncommon vigour to satiate the needs of the people he represents, stand for what he believes in, restoring hope of the people and enkindling their trust reposed on him and reawakening their consciousness and continuous support to his mandate.

Central Reports correspondence Paschal Nyiam, has it that, he, Hon. George Ajangson has sponsored a motion of urgent Public Importance On the deplorable state of a portion of road along Oku/ Borum-Njua.

Hon. George Ajangson while adumbrating on the floor of the House, regrets that the very failed portion of between Oku and Borum  road(along the Borum oil palm estate) has been perpetual for the last 20 years making it impassable for commuters from Borum and njua kaku villages who goes to okundi market,ogoja market,Onitsha and Aba markets respectively. He told the House that the villages under effect contributes greatly on the overall IGR of Boki giving their large volume of Banana, cocoa,palm oil,palm kanel,yams,plantain,cocoyam and peer farming. Hon. George Ajangson lamented that the bad spot of the road springs water from the ground like a semi earthquake, make the soil muddy/solve/slippery throughout the rainy season. Hon George Ajangson said the villages of Oku,Borum and Njua as regards their roads are abandoned by both Local Government and State Government since 1999 in spit of her rich agricultural produce which is contributing to the overall food sufficiency in Boki and CRS. Hon George Ajangson said Oku/Borum/Njua ward had the highest votes in the entire Boki 11 state constituency during the Governorship/House of Assembly election in 2019,he questioned why the Secretary to State Government's road be left in such a very bad state,he further stretched that such a highly placed government functionary should be able to attract state government attention to the failed portion of the road in the interim and asphalting the road permanently in the cause of the year. Hon George Ajangson used the opportunity offered him while speaking to thanked Mr. Thomas Obi Tawo aka General Iron who is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Forest Security for his personal efforts on the failed portion of the road using his personal resources and wondered why the Boki LGC can't use it IGR and mobilize the youths of Oku,Borum and Njua to the failed portion of the road to remove the mud,dig two gullies on the both sides of the road (for easy water passage) and create an emergency land bridge via Palm trees and wooden planks on top of the failed portion of the  road in other for commuters plying the road to have access to the markets with their goods. Hon George Ajangson said with direct labour and community efforts the failed portion of the road can be addressed in one day. He concluded by thanking the the Executive Chairman of Boki for his zeal toward making Boki great and while assuring his Hon Councillors colleagues that the Boki LGC Chairman will come to the aid of Oku/Borum/Njua ward as soon as the resolutions of the House reaches his table.

Recall, some days ago, some respected and notable Boki sons and daughters alongside Mr. Moses Abang, the erstwhile Registrar of the prestigious University Of Calabar took to their WhatsApp handles in a group calling on the honourable councilor representing the Ward to as matter of urgency call on leadership to look at poor state of the road before the month of December.

The motion seek to make movement easy on commuters plying the road for businesses and other daily routine activities, with either immediate or long term recommendations proffered by the Hon. George Ajangson.

Hon. George Ajangson who decried the untold hardship this bad road has brought making marketers unable to access the community or commuters going to okundi market to sell their products/farm produce.

Also Hon. George has decried and called immediate attention as to cut the rate of accident on bikers and others people plying the road.

House Resolutions


1. The executive Chairman of Boki LGC should immediately mobilize resources from the internally generated revenue (IGR) and manpower to create /build an emergency land bridge for easy access of the road.

2. Long term measures be put in place to give a smooth movement for the commuters plying the road by grading/bulldozing and asphalting of the Oku Borum-Njua Road.

The leader of the house, has asked the clerk to make a clean copy of the Resolutions and submit to the executive Chairman of Boki LGC for immediate actions.

The good people of Oku Borum-Njua political Ward are proud of their representative, Hon. George Ajangson.

  1. This is quite commendable, Boki as a whole is potentially rich in both human and natural resources waiting too long to be explored, it is of great importance and as a matter of urgency to look into this undiluted facts this further contribute to the nation economy.
