Maj. Gen. Moses B. Obi has served in two previous United Nations peacekeeping missions, as Platoon Commander in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and as Deputy Sector Commander in the United Nations mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL).  He was also commanding officer of the ECOWAS {Economic Community Of West African States}.
Monitoring Group {ECOMOG}, commanding officer of the Multi-national Joint Task Force Operation in Lake-Chad and Acting Commander of the ECOMOG Ground Task Force in Liberia. He also led the Multi-national Operation in the Lake-Chad Area against Chad based terrorists. 

Gen. Moses Obi was then appointed the chief of training and operations, Army (CTOP 'A') at the Army Headquarters in Abuja. He had also served as the General officer commanding (GOC), 1 division, Nigerian Army (NA).

Gen. Obi attended the Nigerian military school, Zaria after which proceeded to the Nigerian Defence Academy as well as several military and civil courses locally and in the USA, UK, China etc.

Gen. Obi is a 2004 recipient of the National Honour Award of the Officer of the Order of Niger ( OON), for professional Excellence in military service. He also has the Cross River State medal of Honor.
On 10th June, 2010, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced the appointment of General Moses B. Obi of Nigeria as Force Commander of the United Nations mission in Sudan (UNMIS), where he succeeded Lieutenant General Paban Jung Thapa of Nepal.
The UN secretary General then handpicked Gen. Obi for appointment as the commander of the United Nations mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), as it's first Force Commander. Gen. Moses Obi played an important role in establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship between the South Sudan Army (SPLA), the government of Sudan and the sundry militia, ensuring the successful takeoff of the Republic Of South Sudan.
Gen. Obi who hails from Oku-Bushuyu community in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, is the leader of the Boki Nations of Nigeria and the Cameroon.
Born in Nigeria in 1956, he is happily married to Dr. Mrs Patricia Obi and are divinely blessed with four children, three of whom are uniformed officers proudly serving the Federal Republic Of Nigeria (FRN) their father's land.
There are not many more distinguished people in modern Nigeria than Gen. Moses Obi who should be drafted for the highest offices in Nigeria at a critical, dire moment and difficult, trying, hard and  challenging time for the country.
