Nigerian Senate to suspend plenary over budget defence- Central Reports

 The president of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has said that the upper chamber will suspend plenary from Tuesday, October 20, for two weeks.


From our correspondent: this is to allow committees to begin defence of the 2021 budget estimates by the government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). 


Lawan made this known in a statement issued by Ezrel Tabiowo, the special assistant to the president of the Senate on Thursday, October 15.


Senate president has said the upper chamber will suspend plenary for 2 weeks to begin budget defence.


The Senate president went on to note that the upper chamber’s deadline for budget defence would not pass the first week of November. Lawan added that the president back in 2019 instructed that no minister should travel without defending the budget of their agency.
