#ENDSARS PROTEST: UNICAL SECURITY ARREST TWO LOOTERS, RECOVERS ITEMS

Gallant men of the security unit of the University of Calabar have again achieved another remarkable feat in their resolve to maintain adequate security on campus following the recovery of looted items and arrest of two suspects who vandalized and looted some items in the institution in the wake of the #ENDSARS Protest.

It could be recalled that some hoodlums had, a week ago, under the guise of the #ENDSARS Protest unleashed mayhem in Calabar, the Cross-River State capital, destroyed and looted Public and Private Properties in the state, including the University of Calabar.

Speaking on the looting of University property by hoodlums, the Chief Security officer (CSO) of the institution, SP Jarlath Abang (Rtd) disclosed that hoodlums had destroyed and looted some items at the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy, Academic Publishing Centre (APC), ICT Centre, Unical Hotel, among others.

According to him, the hoodlums had attempted to invade the institution’s Microfinance Bank but were effectively subdued by some students of the institution and vibrant men of the security department.

The CSO said the hoodlums were also overpowered by men of the security unit when they attempted to scamper with the looted items, adding that two of them have been arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation. 

Some of the recovered items are: Computers and Accessories, Air conditioners, Printers, Chairs, Dstv Decoder, among others.
