Ted Afu Inyang Sports Tournament Kickstart Activities.
The sixth (6th) edition of the Ted Afu Nyang's sports tournament 2020 sponsored by the Special Adviser (SA) to the governor of Cross River State on planning Hon. Ted Afu Nyang kicked off at his Bansan Osokom home residence at the St. Michael's Primary school field Bansan Osokom.
The tournament will draw participants across the State constituencies of Boki 1 & 2, communities; Boje, Nsadop, Bansan, Obubra-Bansan, Ogep Osokom, Agba, Duala, Okundi, Bafin and Mfom Osokom, unfortunately some communities could not meet up with the registration of their teams early enough for the competition, communities like ; Nkim Osokom, Ntamante and Iso-beneghe. The total registered teams in the sport fiesta are fifteen (15) in number the Central Reports correspondence Mr. Paschal Nyiam learnt. The competition would be runned for weeks, which will produce winners. The draws for the Ted Afu Nyang will produce winners ranging from scheduled activities of football competition, 100m race, Cards, Tug of war, Banfon, Digarma, Dance and Draft respectively which grand finale will take place on 2nd Jan. in the year of our Lord Jesus 2020.
Hon. Ted Afu Nyang, who spoke on the essence of the competition through his representative Pastor Hans Akan, said the aim of the tournament is to foster peace and unity among the youths of Osokom communities and the warring communities of Boje, Nsadop and Isobeneghe, promote grassroots football and discover new talents in Boki and Cross River at large. “Don’t forget Mercy Nku the Boki daughter who played for the Nigeria Super Eagles was discovered in this manner.
“There are many Mercy Nku in Boki most especially and the Cross River community and the tournament will unveil them. This is just a starting point,” he added.
Members of the organizing committee, registered teams and others around in a unifying and collective response while acknowledging the kind gesture of Hon Ted Afu Nyang noted that the tournament would boost local football and peace amongst the communities and their neighborhood, praying for this kindness not to stop but continue as this is not the first edition, charging all other appointees and well meaning sons and daughters to emulate this acts and reciprocate same in due course.
