WHEN FARMS BECOME FIELDS OF FEAR
Once upon a time, our fathers feared wild animals in the forest. Today, it appears the greatest fear is meeting fellow human beings. In a sad twist of our collective reality, a man who simply went to his farm in Boje Ward in search of his daily bread has instead become another painful reminder that life has become frighteningly cheap.
What a tragic achievement for a society that ought to be known for its rich culture, peaceful coexistence, and communal brotherhood. Have we now reached the point where farms - symbols of life, hard work, and sustenance - are transformed into scenes of bloodshed? If this is the direction we are headed, then every hoe, cutlass, and basket carried to the farm may soon be mistaken for a farewell message.
Boki Media Forum strongly condemns this senseless and unfortunate murder. No grievance, misunderstanding, or communal disagreement can ever justify the taking of human life. Violence only deepens wounds, breeds bitterness, and robs families of their loved ones while leaving entire communities burdened with avoidable sorrow.
We therefore call on the people of Boje and Isobendeghe to remain calm and resist every temptation to resort to reprisals or actions capable of escalating tensions. Justice is best served through lawful investigation, not through retaliation.
We equally urge the Nigeria Police Force, other security agencies, and all relevant government authorities to treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves. The perpetrators must be thoroughly investigated, arrested, and brought before the law. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done, as this remains the surest path to restoring public confidence and preserving peace.
At this difficult moment, our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family. May this unfortunate incident awaken our collective conscience to value human life above every disagreement, and may peace continue to reign across Boje, Isobendeghe, and the entire Boki Local Government Area.
